watercolor
as the hues become yellow and gold
and the sweet dank scent fills the air
I know it is not death that comes
but falling deeper into one's self
the chill that passes through my hair
is like the goosebumps you give me
the sensation of being tickled
upon your word and gaze
as the leaves fall, I fall
deeper into myself
to swim in the glistening pool
making waves of love wash to the shore
it is a season to wind down
hear my heart's pulse
to taste the red apple by day
and the honey by night
as the leaves fall, I fall
I slip into the fall
not a trip in my step
but life leading it's way for me
to fall, let your body go freely
as you pass through the clouds
I will see the drop was not scary
but gave me fresh eyes
on how to walk this ground
how I will tread this earth
to embrace the Fall
and the ripening of colors
as the leaves fall, I fall
I let go, so I may fall
and I will be caught softly
in a pile of those same fallen leaves
