Minneapolis and i

This is a watercolor painting I did in college for an art class.  I created a handmade autobiographical book.  Each page treated a different aspect of my identity at the time.  This particular page dealt with myself as an individual.  The lowercase "i" denoted myself as this individual surrounded by the city, lowercase showing how small one can be in a great big new place.  This painting was done about 8 years ago.  I find it fitting for my blog right now because here I am once again in Minneapolis.  The "i" is found on this road entering into the Minneapolis skyline.  Whenever I drive back to Minneapolis from visits home to North Dakota I see the buildings as some type of beacon lights welcoming one in.  I've come and gone.  Now I'm back.  I may be the same "i" in ways and in others, not.

Here's to 2012: Minneapolis and i!
